around me, fear.
surrounded clearly.
where once i stalked
so dark and wearily,
where once i ducked
and dodged and nearly
stayed afraid,
existing merely.

yet shadows revere me,
shadows have me
half here, half there,
a nightmare laughing
a tall, dark figure
reaching, grabbing
reality, a fatality.
a season passing.

fresh from death.
a breath exhaled,
impales the air
where i prevail,
where i now dwell,
the earth impaled,
the surface cursed
for i’ve rebelled.
